Extension of the Port of Bilbao in the ‘Abra Exterior’ (phase 1) and stabilization of the western sector of the Punta Lucero quarry

On the request of the Bilbao Port Authority, actions have included stabilization of the western sector of the Punta Lucero quarry and construction of the 1st phase of the central crowned wall of the extension of the Port of Bilbao. Regarding the latter, the main projects tackled were:

  • Dredging sand in the North sector of Zone II by the Port Authority, to recondition spaces and for subsequent use as filling
  • Dock A-6 and A-5: anchoring (at a depth of -21) and filling of 24 caissons. Caissons that are 46.12 m long and 17.16 m wide. Execution of corresponding shelf and rear girder
  • Dock A-4: anchoring (at a depth of -20) and filling of 2 special caissons. Caissons have 23 m support, 46.44 m long and 17.16 m wide
  • Central containment wall: 670 meters long, in parallel to the A-6 dock. Formed by graded aggregate taken from stabilizing the slope of the Punta Lucero quarry
